2019 Update & Athlete Sponsorship

Now we are half way through 2019 and with the development of our Athletes Sponsorship Programme, we thought it would be a great time to share a short update on Tru Wealth and what to expect in 2019 and the future.

As a new and innovative Financial Services business, we understand that access to affordable financial planning is increasingly difficult and confusing. Even with the advent of “Robo-Advice” people still look for that human interaction and often, longer term relationships.

Tru Wealth was designed with the majority in mind – access to honest, transparent and trustworthy advice is so important and often wrongly considered to be only for the wealthy or more mature. We would argue that good advice is needed all throughout life, especially at the beginning of your working and family life – not just at the end when, traditionally, you may have savings, pensions and investments that need managed.

We look to provide affordable financial advice to all, building strong, long-lasting relationships and to be the first place you turn for advice no matter how big or small. We advise on retirement planning, saving for your future and for your family’s future. For the time when plans don’t quite go as you’d hoped, we have partnered with Vitality to provide protection plans, income protection and private medical insurance to ensure that plans stay plans!

Athlete Sponsorship

In 2018 we were invited to work with Scottish Athletics and have built strong relationships in the Scottish Athletics community. Our parent company, The McKnight Financial Group, is one of the main sponsors of Victoria Park City of Glasgow Athletics Club and we were delighted to be present at the Scottish National Athletics events in Grangemouth and the Winter Indoor meet at The Emirates Stadium in Glasgow. Earlier this year we stepped up our support of Athletics by creating our Athletes Sponsor Program and are delighted to have 3 Scottish and GB athletes working with us, Mhairi Hendry, Philippa Millage and Luke Traynor.

We sat down for a chat last week and all three shared their goals with us for 2019 and beyond:

Mhairi Hendry – Scottish 800m Champion

“My goals have had to be altered a bit this year due to injury, but I’m back running now and excited to compete. My focus will be towards the end of the season at the Scottish and then the British Championships. I competed in the world indoor championships in 2018 and would be looking to be up for selection again in 2020. Then there is the Olympics and that’s a big dream of mine, and if it’s not this time around then I’d like to at least be in the mix for selection.”

Philippa Millage – Scottish 800m Indoor Champion

“My main goals this season is to enjoy myself. Last season I was injured and that’s pretty tough for an athlete as we work incredibly hard all year and put a lot of pressure on ourselves to perform when it matters. So when things don’t go to plan it’s easy to get into a ‘why me’ frame of mind. So this season I’m focused on staying healthy and happy and enjoy training and racing. With this fresh perspective my secondary goal is to smash some Scottish records. I already have the Scottish masters records for 400m, 800m and 1500m so if I can have a happy enjoyable season and re-write some records then that’s my ideal outcome. ”

Luke Traynor – 10,000m, ½ Marathon and Marathon athlete

“This year I move up to the marathon for the first time. I will debut at the Frankfurt marathon at the end of October where I aim to run an Olympic standard of under 2.11. After that it is just about getting ready for the Olympic trials at the 2020 London marathon!”

Stay tuned across our social media to keep up to date with all three athletes where we will be sharing any upcoming competitions and also some health & fitness advice and great ways to earn Vitality points!
